Executive Producer: Joe Lee

Joe is the Director & General Manager of WAER FM at Syracuse University. He chose to produce City Limits as a first step in connecting WAER’s award-winning journalism to community engagement efforts. Originally from Baltimore, MD, Joe and his family have called Central New York home for the past 25 years.

 

Senior Producer: Chris Bolt

Chris started at WAER as a student volunteer in 1987 before becoming a News Producer and eventually News and Public Affairs Director. He has covered civic, environmental, health, cultural and many other issues here in Central New York over 27 years, developing a passion for the area and its improvement. When not covering the community or training the next generation of News and Sports journalists, Chris and family enjoy the numerous outdoor activities Upstate New York offers us.

 

Senior Content Manager: Kevin Kloss

Kevin has been the Content and Operations Manager at WAER-FM since late 2016 and is chiefly responsible for packaging the City Limits stories for web and broadcast distribution on WAER. Born and raised in Central New York, Kevin is proud to be a part of this project to help raise awareness regarding the growing poverty concern.

 

Reporter/Host: Scott Willis

Scott has served as News Producer and local host of All Things Considered at WAER since coming to Syracuse from the Detroit area in 2001. During that time, he has produced occasional stories that touch on the various facets of poverty. But Scott looks forward to better understanding the pervasive problem by connecting with the people it impacts and sharing that with listeners through City Limits.

 

Reporter/Host: John Smith

John has been heard during the morning commute on WAER for more than a decade. He enjoys human interest reporting and informing the public about Central New York news. During the summer of 2016 he produced a long feature report about grassroots efforts to deal with Syracuse’s high poverty rate. He’s a Syracuse native.

 

Poverty Project Reporter/Host: Kijin Higashibaba

Kijin just joined the WAER team in fall 2017 as the All Things Considered host and reporter. Excited to jump in and become a part of the City Limits team, Kijin is passionate about bringing community members and their stories to the airwaves and they believe City Limits will be an excellent way to do that at WAER. Kijin recently relocated from Chicago where they were a reporting intern at WBEZ.

 

Poverty Project Reporter/Host: Brian Moore

Brian E. Moore is the owner of Moore About You, an audio and video production company focused on creating quality educational and entertaining pieces to preserve the history of individuals for current and future generations. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Brian spent his early career working in radio and television, where among numerous accomplishments he earned a Syracuse Press Club award as Coordinating Producer of a the WAER mini-documentary series, “Reality Check”.

Brian lives in Syracuse, New York with his wife and children. In addition to his entrepreneurial pursuits, he enjoys his time writing and performing music, as well as freelancing as a grant writer.

 

Reporter/Host: Katie Zilcosky

Katie Zilcosky joined the WAER professional staff as the All Things Considered Host and features reporter in 2018. She is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and had previously worked at WAER as a student at Syracuse University. She now covers technology, identity and poverty in Syracuse for WAER and is the co-host of Syracuse Speaks.
